We Are the Audience: Creating the Representation We’ve Been Missing

The stuttering community exists. We are the audience. Yet we’ve rarely seen ourselves reflected on screen. Until now.

We Are the Audience brings together people who stutter to question how the world sees them and imagine how they wish to be seen. Co-created with the community and featuring a score by composer Luke Wyland (who stutters), this film offers a rare cinematic moment: people who stutter gathered together, reshaping their own narrative.

More than a call for better representation, this is the representation itself: proof of what becomes possible when communities take the mic and the camera.

Distribution

The film was presented in an advance screening in November 2025 at the inaugural edition of the Voice and Media Festival. It is currently on the festival circuit and will be released online afterwards.
